Anne Frank's Rescuer Turns 100

I read today that the woman On Sunday, Miep Gies, just celebrated her 100th birthday. Miep Gies kept the diary that Anne wrote and returned it to Anne's Father when he returned from the camps. She also corresponds with people who write her about Anne and The Holocaust. She is in relatively good health in spite of having a stroke some years ago. I have concluded that Miep's meaningful life and long years are a reward for the good deeds she did those many years ago. How many live to be 100? and yes I know this conclusion does not coincide with my agnostic really more atheistic beliefs but the intent and feeling are heartfelt.

Hi Sharon, I am so excited to know that Ms. Gies is still among us! This is too awesome! I just showed the film "The Freedom Riders" last Saturday in my Intro Sociology class to cover the education and social stratification portions of the course. The students in the course were very impressed that Ms. Gies would show up at a California High School to share Anne Frank's story. The fact that this beautiful woman is still alive will provoke thought and conversation. Thanks for sharing!
