The Steering Committeee of OLOC (Old Lesbians Organizing for Change) met March 23rd-26th in Long Beach California at the Seaport Marina Hotel. I was in attendance and was appointed Research Gatekeeper which involves screening potential persons interested in conducting research on the topic of OLOC and old Lesbians. We held a potluck. 37 Old Lesbians came to the potluck. We saw a video that Cristina Vegas had produced of the first OLOC meeting ever taken in 1989. During the 3 day conference a lot of work was completed including plans to hold an OLOC "GATHERING" in Southern California in August 2008. The hotel where this will be held is still pending. Below is a list of regional groups of OLOC. OLOC is a national organization with the purpose of combating ageism particularly as it affect Old Lesbians. The mission of OLOC is to empower Lesbians who are OLD and to prepare those who will be OLD with the tools to combat Ageism and Lesbophobia. OLOC is committed to achieiving a non racist, non sexist, more equitable world for all; however, OLOC's primary and overarching mission is aimed at empowering OLD Lesbians everywhere.
