Sharon Raphael is a Professor Emeritus who has taught sociology and administered and created a Master's level gerontology program. She is a lesbian rights activist who has worked for lesbian and gay causes since 1971. Sharon also believes animals just as humans should have the right to exist and thrive.

The Stonewall March was organized by Gay Activists in Los Angeles who felt a march was more appropriate than the Gay Pride Parade. In June 76 we had both a parade and a march to commemorate Stonewall riots
in 69 that sparked the Gay Right Movement in the U.S.A. The radicals and leftists organized Stonewall 76.

What a wonderful photo. I hope I can get it onto my desktop.
It was the Stonewall marches that led to us holding the first mardi gras in Sydney in 1978, in response to a letter requesting support.

Thanks for your comments. Interesting Australian history but once again a Mardi Gras is not the same as a march so they didn't get it just like the Gay Pride people in LA didn't get it.
