I'm Blown Away: US Accused of Using Chemical Weapons on Civilians

"A news program on Italian satellite TV, RAI News 24, has substantiated the claim that the US military has been exploiting the dual use of white phosporus. In its siege of Fallujah, the chemical was used on the civilian populace. The story is in today's Repubblica.  The Bush Adminstration and the DoD are about to be shamed before the eyes of the world." (Huffington Post, Nov. 7, 2005) by paper tigress.

"In the investigative story, produced by Maurizio Torrealta, dramatic footage is shown revealing the effects of the bombardment on civilians, women and children, some of whom were surprised in their sleep." another source: http://themoonsfavors.blogspot.com/2005/11/use-of-chemical-weapons-by-us-military.html

If the above is true, I would think it is all over for the Bush administration. Any shred of credibility in the Bush administration would be blown out of the water. I took the first quote from the Huffington Post. But if it is true, will Congress act and how will it happen-impeachment I would suppose. I guess all the dots would have to be connected back to Bush. Maybe they would just get rid of Rumsfeld. This makes one think fast and hard. How will the demise of all these despicable characters be conducted?

Vicky and others,

Let's wait and see what happens. I find it hard to believe that the Bush people can put a positive spin on this one, but yes, they are good at spinning. I am very curious why more news groups have not picked up on this scoop, although supposedly it has to come out in the Italian media and right now the news is about the news that will happen. I did see it posted on an Argentinian newsource besides Huffington and a few other blogs since I last wrote. The point that can be made is the US is as bad as its enemy and may have caused more casualties of Iraqis than the other side, something like that. War is always terrible. That is what our military will say. And Bush, who knows, but I bet he will if he has to admit it is true will blame it on someone else, although that is not his usual mode of operation. What else can he do?

Vicky,

On further thought and a day later, it looks like the USA
media are not running with the story about using diabolical chemicals in Fallujah. Eventhough the Italians have a documentary on what happened and eyewitness accounts (from people injured) (including one report from an american soldier who was in Fallujah). I saw the only major outlet in USA that had the story besides the blogs was the Christian Science Monitor which is always fair. So you are right, the rest of the world is reporting this and other accounts of US use of chemicals . The US spolespeople will just say the reporting is biased. Our government admits it uses white phospherous but only to help the forces see at night. We are only one of a few countries, perhaps the only major one, that did not sign an international agreement condemning the practice. My conclusion is the public is ignorant of the issue because the papers have not focused on the issue or the spin on it is sufficient for them not to care. What other conclusion is there? I feel though there is a chance for the story to make headlines eventually. Things are going badly for Bush and the focus for now is on his currupt colleagues which is not so bad either.
